About The Role
The Administration Officer role is a key position which provides a high level of administration and operational support to the Director and the Finance, Governance and Community Services team as well as frontline assistance and customer service to the public on matters relevant to the Department.
Key Accountabilities for this position are:
- Provision of secretarial and administrative support to the Director
- Provision of administrative support to Council’s committees including the preparation of committee reports and related correspondence
- Preparation of agendas and minutes for department meetings and operational managers team meetings
- Provide advice, support and assistance to local community organisations, community groups and Council officers where required
- Assist with and provide relief support across the Department in the areas of: records management; finance, governance and risk and information services
- Responsible for providing frontline assistance to the public and ensuring appropriate advice is provided to customers or referral to appropriate officer
- Update Council’s website with regard to finance, governance and community services information as required
- Administering and promotion of community events
- Prepare grant applications to Government bodies
- Observation of safe work practices at all times, including the immediate reporting of any real or potential safety hazards. Ensuring an awareness of WH&S and EEO requirements is observed in accordance with legislative requirements and Council policies.
To be successful you will need:
- Certificate III in Business Administration or studying towards
- Higher School Certificate or equivalent
- Class C Licence
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Highly developed organisational and time management skills
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain integrity and confidentiality in a political sensitive environment
- Proven ability to use Microsoft Office Programs
- Previous experience and ability to work within a team environment
- Ability to work in a busy, demanding and open plan office environment
- Understanding of equal employment opportunities
- Understanding of work health and safety
This position is a Grade 7 paying $2,185.89 - $2,459.13 per fortnight under the Local Government State Award as varied by Lachlan Shire Council’s Enterprise Agreement. Applications close 4.30pm Monday 27 May 2019.
